Hi, I’m Kim Moss. I’m a wife, mother, teacher, and author ….and now a blogger! I live in Dallas, Texas with a very amazing husband and two young “super hero” boys who inspire me daily. I’ve been writing ever since I could hold a pencil. I actually wrote my first YA novel on a yellow legal pad in junior high school, and I haven’t stopped writing since! I am a teacher by day, and a novelist by night. When I’m not writing, I enjoy spending time with my family in the great outdoors.
Okay, so MAYBE there’s one more thing about me you should know.
I’m also a “wanna be” poet. I wrote this poem about myself last summer in a writing workshop I had the privilege of attending with two very talented authors, Alma Flor Ada and Isabel Campoy.
Hopefully after reading it, you’ll have a better sense of who I am.
(Which may, or sadly, may not be a poet.)
Who I Am
When I am all alone in the quiet stillness,
I am a pencil scratching on a blank piece of paper.
I am a tree standing proudly on the top of a majestic mountainside.
I am the loud song blaring on your car stereo.
I am the easy conversation on a well-worn path.
I am the spices in a steamy pot of delicious gumbo.
I am the wiper of little noses and the healing kiss on a bumped head.
I am the one who ties super hero capes and referees wrestling matches.
I am a loving kiss, a firm reminder, and a bedtime prayer.
I am the spark in their imaginations, an oar pushing against the whitewater of ordinary.
I am both an anchor and a rudder .
I am an open book full of possibilities.
